Gavin Christian Thompson

Gavin Christian Thompson was born on March 31, 1991 to devoted parents Constance (Patrick) Young and Charles Woods.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David W. Grimes Sr. great-grandparents Mary and Aubrey Crockett, Geneava Thompson, and Ralph Reese.
Gavin is survived by the love of his life and fiancée, Desiree Shantay Ivy; his children Amiya Thompson, Gavin Christian Thompson II, Avayah Ivy, and Chrislynn Thompson; his loving Nana Emma Grimes; and his granddaddy Theodore Thompson; his mother-in-law Angela Ivy. He also leaves behind his siblings Michael (Tylee)Thompson, Kasmin Jones, (Cousin /Sister) Keoshua (Julian)Madison, (Cousin/ Brother) Corey "Son" Collins, Thomia Young, Patrick "Pat Pat" Young, his aunts and uncles Shea (Anthony)Williams, Tomika (Mark )Woods-Hopkins, Latricia Thompson, Shane Reese and Jessica Marks; great-aunts and uncles Mary (Ricky)Lawrence, and Othni Reese; Cousins Zeandre, Kate, Zion, Shanaya, and Ranisha Reese; Brothers and Sisters in law Jasmine Deleon, Shanethia Ivy, Lakethia Ivy, and Maceo Ali; along with many others he loved dearly. Gavin is also survived by close friends who were more like family: Kerry Pettus, Darshawn, Ladarius, Charles Craig, and Lee Moody. Devoted Uncle Eric (Shanica )Jones, Devoted Aunt of 33 years Tia Craig!!!
Gavin was selected to participate in the People to People Australian Adventure and completed Ambassadorship Studies through the Washington School of World Studies in 2006, he graduated from Hillsboro High School, Class of 2009, and later attended Middle Tennessee State University.
Gavin was a builder in every sense of the word. He founded AGA named after his oldest girls and himself, Amiya, Gavin, and Avayah a business rooted in compassion, purpose, and service. Through AGA, Gavin owned and operated multiple homes that provided safe, stable, and loving environments for individuals with intellectual disabilities at all levels of care. He believed deeply that everyone deserved dignity, security, and a place to truly call home, and he worked tirelessly to turn that belief into reality.
Alongside this work, Gavin poured his heart into building his dog breeding business something he truly lived and breathed. It was more than a career; it was a passion that reflected his patience, discipline, and deep respect for life. He gave everything he had to building something lasting, honest, and meaningful.
Above all else, Gavin loved his family. In the final weeks of his life, he stepped back from the daily operations of AGA, visiting the properties only to ensure things were being done correctly, so he could devote more time to his fiancée and children. Gavin saved his son JJ's life by donating bone marrow and faithfully traveling weekly for treatment, never leaving his side. He was so much more than the way his life ended. He was a father, a son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, a cousin, a protector, and a presence that filled every room he entered.
Gavin carried a strength that made others feel safe and a heart that made people feel truly seen. He wanted everyone around him to succeed and was always ready to invest in someone else's dreams and goals. To know Gavin was to know loyalty, laughter, and love that ran deep. He was the person you could call at any hour, the one who always showed up, who loved without condition.
His bond with his family was unbreakable, and his absence leaves a silence that words cannot fill.
