Weslaco- Genaro Piña, a man who truly believed life was an adventure soundtracked by the perfect song, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 19, 2025. He was 64. Born on August 18, 1961, in Crosby, Texas, to Gregorio and Juanita Piña, Genaro's legacy is one of dedication, warmth, and a playful zest for life.
Genaro was a proud graduate of Weslaco High School. On his 19th birthday, August 18, 1980, he married his soulmate, Rosalinda Piña, beginning a beautiful partnership built on love and laughter.
A talented craftsman, Genaro held leadership positions in painting and construction in his early career. Later, he stepped up to honor his family and community by taking over his father's small engine repair business, becoming a trusted fixture for many.
More than his work, Genaro was known for the ways he brought people together. He hosted memorable BBQs that turned neighbors into family. His extensive musical taste was legendary; he curated the soundtrack to every family gathering, always knowing the right beat for the moment. A proud owner who loved caring for his cars and a passionate sports fan, he loved rooting for his Washington Commanders and the Houston Astros. Genaro's enduring characteristic was his playful attitude, which made every ordinary day feel like an extraordinary adventure. He took every opportunity to share his hard-earned wisdom, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Genaro is now reunited with his beloved wife, Rosalinda "Rosie" Piña, and his father, Gregorio Piña.
He is survived by his children, Adrian Rivas, Melissa Kristine Piña, Genaro Israel Piña, and Ariel Jasmine Piña; his two grandchildren, Adrian Ismail Rivas and Yvonne Danielle Piña (Timothy); his cherished mother, Juanita Piña; and his siblings, Juanita Garcia, Gregorio Piña Jr. (Sylvia), and George (Mary) Piña, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A private cremation will follow.
