Gene Keith Colvell was known as Keith his whole life, and close friends nicknamed him "Hoote". Keith was a son, brother, nephew, grandson, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. Born in 1951, in Allentown, New Jersey, Keith was the oldest of three (3) children blessed to Eugene G. Colvell and (Abigail) Elnora Colvell. Keith was predeceased by both his parents, nephew Christopher Steinmann, a brother-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Keith is survived by two sisters – Pamela Gleason and Kim Colvell - and his six (6) children with ex-wife Mary B. Colvell. His adult children and spouses – Steven (Stephanie) Colvell, Brandee Bates, Kevin Colvell, Shaun (Jessica) Colvell, Shane Colvell, and Troy Colvell. Keith also had five (5) grandchildren – RJ Bates, Nathan, Jack, Landon and Mackenzie Colvell; a niece Katie (Dave) Cuffee, and a great niece and nephew.
Growing up Keith was considered the favorite one by his sisters. Keith had perfect attendance until age 18 for religious instruction and then only made rare Christmas attendances. Keith wrestled at Burlington Township High School, graduating in 1969. He attended a few classes at college before he chose the work world. Keith worked over his lifetime for different businesses Perry Manufacturing, RAS Welding, Tornquist Garage, Hyundai Motor America and ProBuild.
Keith's five boys and one girl were referred to as Grandpop Colvell's basketball team and cheerleader. Keith had attended their sporting events from the time they started playing soccer, baseball, and softball through high school; and attended their baptisms, confirmations, graduations and marriages.
Keith had special friends during different periods of his life, his activities and work. Keith's cousin Norman was the brother he never had. Keith kept busy from his summers in Wildwood in early adulthood to hunting locally, in Pennsylvania and at the Southpark Hunting Club, to fishing locally, ocean boat trips and Island Beach State Park overnight or weekend trips, and crewing for the Carberry racing team for several years on dirt tracks. He raised ponds of koi fish and had a Brittany Spaniel – Peaches.
Keith enjoyed Italian food, Cheerios, Swedish fish and Peep marshmallow treats. Keith enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He followed NASCAR racing, specific drivers and racing teams.
Keith passed away on April 12, 2025 after almost a year confined at home. May he rest in peace. A graveside service for Keith will be held on Thursday, April 24th at 11:00am at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
