Gene Ray Coody was born January 3, 1935 in Pioneer, Louisiana and passed away December 2, 2024, in Bossier City, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Johnny Elizabeth Crain Coody, his daughter Elizabeth Rae Coody and her husband David Nathaniel Scott.
His life was spent in service to those in need as a social worker with the State of Louisiana's department of welfare for 35 years, in cultivating the earth, and enjoying the bounty and wonder of nature. He loved people, but did not love funerals. Ask someone you meet a good question about themselves and listen closely to the answer. That will be a fitting way to remember this kind man with a twinkle in his eye.
He asked to be remembered at Caddo Lake, where he spent many happy years. Donations may be made in his memory to Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport, the church home whose ministries he supported and that has supported he and his family for the last four decades. Johnny and Elizabeth would also like to thank the good people of the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home who cared for them all with compassion in his last days. https://freedonationkiosk.com:9011/broadmoorumc/donation/new
