G Don Thomas died on October 14, 2025, in Shreveport La at the age of 85 He was born in Modesto, California on October 1, 1940, to George and Shirley Thomas. He grew up in California, graduating from El Cajon High School in 1959. While in school he discovered his love of sports, lettering in football, baseball, field and track After high school Don joined the US Air Force, where he served 20 years in Security Forces, including a tour in Vietnam

Don retired in 1981and moved to Louisiana, stating he had never seen so many beautiful flowers. After obtaining a bachelor and master degree from Louisiana Tech, Don went to work for The Department Of Children and Family Services for 20 years. He found his greatest satisfaction in working as a counselor and mentor to teenage boys living in group home placements.

As a senior citizen Don enjoyed traveling the world, sailing, gardening and the theater. He loved to sing and was drawn to the stage by the Shreveport Little Theater and as a member of Vintage Players. He said that his greatest achievement as an actor was playing a dead man in a local short movie. Even more he loved to cook, always a new recipe in hand, to try out on family and friends: wasn't a bad bar tender either!

Don is survived by his partner in life, Lyn Thomas, sons Kevin Thomas, Michael Thomas and wife Carrie, Donald Thomas and wife Virginia; step children Kelley Stevens, Cullen Curran and wife Angie. Don also has two surviving brothers in North Carolina, Gene Thomas and Boyd Thomas. Don enjoyed the love of three beautiful granddaughters, Kelsey Thomas, Kate Thomas, Saebren Stevens, and grandson Tyler Thomas.
