James Benjamin Herrington Jr

James Benjamin Herrington Jr., beloved educator and counselor, passed away after a lifetime dedicated to faith, service, and community. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, James-known to many as Jim-grew up in Louisiana before moving to Texas after graduating from Louisiana Tech University. He furthered his education with a master's degree from the School of Education at Tarleton State University. He devoted more than forty years to teaching and counseling, retiring in 2022 from Stratford High School in Houston.

Jim met his partner, Julie, ten years ago in Katy, Texas. He lovingly embraced her children, Jill and Jeffrey and often referred to them as his step children. Jim's passions included cheering for the Astros, playing bridge and other card games with friends, and attending Stratford High School sports events.

A man of deep faith and generosity, Jim was always seeking ways to serve others. He was active with the Connection team at St. Peter's United Methodist Church and volunteered with his Sunday School group to serve meals with Hope Impacts.

Jim is survived by his siblings Sandra Massey, David Herrington, and Ricky Herrington. He is preceded in death by siblings Cecil Schmidt, Joseph Herrington, Tommy Herrington, and his parents James Benjamin Herrington and Ruby Collins Herrington.

Jim will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the positive impact he made on countless lives.
