David Bryan Thomas, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at his residence in Wooton, Kentucky. He was 69 years old. He was born on April 3, 1956, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, David lived a life dedicated to service, family, and faith.
David enjoyed a distinguished career as a former EMT and Director of the Leslie County Ambulance Service, showcasing his unwavering commitment to helping others. His dedication to public service extended beyond emergency medical care; he also spent 20 years as a coal miner, where he worked tirelessly to support his family and community. He was a founding member and the first Fire Chief of the Coon Creek Fire Department, a testament to his leadership and dedication to public safety.
A devoted member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, Kentucky, David found great joy in his relationship with God, often cherishing his time spent with his church family. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included fishing, turtle hunting, gardening, and riding his four-wheeler. However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his loving family and friends, particularly his grandchildren.
David is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marilyn Woods Thomas, whom he married on May 22, 1978. He leaves behind two sons, Mark Thomas and Candy, and David Shane Thomas and Tina, as well as one daughter, Lorelle Wooton and her husband, Darrell. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Harold Thomas, and eight cherished grandchildren: Andrew, Ashley, Adam, Chase, Steven, Alexis Gail, Kailey, and Alexis, along with one great-grandchild, Ashton Coy. David also had many special friends, including Hobert and Liz Couch, Stephanie Griffie, and Bobby Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Thomas and Rachel "Allie" Toler Thomas, as well as two brothers, Larry Thomas and George Thomas, and one sister, Hazel Isom. He will also be reunited with his father and mother-in-law, Buck and Mae Woods, and his sister-in-law, Frances Pennington.
David Bryan Thomas will be remembered for his extraordinary service to his community, his deep faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Funeral: Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, KY.
