Gastonia – Gene Medlock, 83 passed away September 2, 2024 at his residence.
He was born in Greenwood County on July 10, 1941 to the late Arthur Calvin Medlock and Iler Lee Hart Medlock. He was also preceded in death by his wife Linda Chesney Medlock and his sons, Calvin Medlock, Eugene “Bo” Medlock and Timothy Matthew Medlock.
He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a huge Elvis fan, along with the rest of his family. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time and making memories with his family. He loved and missed his wife, Linda very much, and his sons. He was in different clubs and loved being a coach and helped many young boys with their cleats, and buying them food.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Melinda Medlock Bolin (John), and Deborah Medlock; grandchildren, Heather Smith, Brittany Pace, Brandon Bolin, Matthew and Jonathan Medlock; great granddaughters Mackenzie Severance and Madison Watterson; and many wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 6th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Criswell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 5th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his daughter, Melinda at 1714 Shady Creek Drive Clover SC 29710.
Burial will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 251 Olney Church Road, Gastonia, North Carolina. Pallbearers will be Brandon Bolin, John Bolin, Matthew Medlock, Jonathan Medlock, Jack Parker and Cole Pace.
