Mr. Gene Austin Richmond, Sr., age 93, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held the same day, Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM with interment to follow in Blackjack Cemetery in Simpson County, KY.
Gene was born on July 21, 1931 in Hix, WV to the late George Estel Richmond and the late Berthal (Calvert) Richmond. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma "Peggy" Richmond; a son, Gene Austin Richmond, Jr.; and eight siblings.
He is survived by one daughter, Marcina Dorton; four grandchildren, Brittany, Jared, Courtney and Roger; two great-grandchildren, River and Elizabeth Rose; one sister, Freda Pennington; and one brother, Fred Richmond.
Gene attended the Franklin First Church of the Nazarene in Franklin, KY. He was a self taught musician and loved bluegrass music. Gene enjoyed working in the yard and messing around with his mower. Before retirement, he was a diesel mechanic for McLean Trucking.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Franklin First Church of the Nazarene, 710 John J. Johnson Ave., Franklin, KY 42134. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
