Geneva Mae Guffey Brackett, 96, of Harrisburg, NC passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 with her son Fred Brackett, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Brackett, and two special friends, Libby Carroll and Shirley Luce, by her side at Pruitt Health in Harrisburg.
Geneva was born May 16, 1929 in Rutherfordton NC, and was the daughter of the late Marion and Maude Owens Guffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edwin Cleveland Brackett Sr.; son, Edwin "Pete" Cleveland Brackett Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Ledbetter; and siblings, Marion Ray Guffey, Martha Faye Hipps, Susie Hammett, John Guffey, Bruce Guffey, Kenneith Guffey; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Survivors include her son, Fred, and his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" of Concord; her sister, Shirley Young; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
When Geneva was younger, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, and cooking huge Sunday dinners for her family. She was a devoted wife, doting mother, and loving grandmother to her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Geneva was a member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church, and in recent years, resided at Pruitt Health in Harrisburg, where she was cared for and loved by their staff and her long term roommate, Libby. Geneva loved playing Bingo, and developed special bonds with many staff members.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Harrisburg United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Rob Hutchinson. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park Harrisburg, 12015 University City Blvd., Charlotte.
