Donna Ruth Watson Tant, 79, of Charlotte, passed away after a short illness on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Donna was born on December 13, 1945, in Lowland, North Carolina, to the late Cola Ion Watson and Nelia Dare Campen Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Clifton Tant; and siblings, Clevis Watson, Lois Ballance, Alice Lewis, and Paul Watson.
Donna cherished her family deeply. She and Larry were truly the glue that held everyone together, and their home was always a place of welcome. After retiring from a long career in banking, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams, reading, and spending time in nature. A faithful Christian, she was uplifted by her loving church family at University Hills Baptist Church. Donna and Larry were known for their beloved “Chucky Christmas” tradition, always making the holiday season magical for their family. In her final weeks, she longed to be reunited with the love of her life. Above all, Donna will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, Nana, sister, and aunt.
Survivors include three daughters, Lori (Philip) Tomlinson, Robin (Tony) Manka, and Kristina (Ben) Simms; sisters, Ban O'Neal and Wanda (Ken) Rhodes; grandchildren, John Tomlinson, Meredith Mende, Mitch Mende, Zachary (Chelsea) Simms, and Clifton (Kayla) Simms; great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Jasper, Silas, Maverick, and Blair; and 4 nephews and 5 nieces.
The graveside service in celebration of Donna's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens in Charlotte officiated by Dr. Michael Toney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to University Hills Baptist Church, 1500 Suther Rd., Charlotte, NC 28213. Donna was involved in GriefShare, Spice of Life and several other groups at the church.
