Geneva Burns, age 90, born on April 14, 1935, in Union County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Atrium Health-Shelby. She was surrounded by her beloved sister, Nellie, during her final moments, a testament to the close bonds she cherished throughout her life.
Geneva leaves behind her two sisters, Willie Burns and Nellie Burns, who were essential sources of love and support. She is predeceased by her father, Odis McNoa Burns; her mother, Amanda Cagle Burns; her brother, Otis Nelson Burns; and her sister, Cathaline Burns. Geneva’s family was a cornerstone of her existence, and the memories shared with each of them will be forever cherished.
A devoted member of the Shelby Church of Christ, Geneva was known for her welcoming spirit and commitment to her community. She touched many lives through her kindness and steadfast faith, leaving a positive impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
Geneva's services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory in Shelby, North Carolina. The visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Cleveland Memorial Park, where family and friends can come together to honor and remember her life and legacy.
Geneva Burns will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
