Geneva J. Klaffer, 84, of Fairfield, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi, IL. Geneva was born May 11, 1940, in White County, IL, to Pleasant and Geneva (Gibbs) Vaughan.
Geneva married John C. Klaffer, Sr. in Mt. Vernon, IL, on October 3, 1956. They celebrated 55 wedding anniversaries before John's death in 2011.
Geneva retired from North American Lighting in Flora, IL, where she worked for many years. However, her favorite role was being a loving grandmother. She cherished each grandchild and taught them many valuable lessons.
Geneva is survived by her son, Ed Klaffer of Golden Gate, IL; daughters, Nancy Klaffer of White Hall, IL and Brenda Medina of Paducah, KY; brothers, Donnie Vaughan of Fairfield, IL and Joe Vaughan of the Chicago, IL area. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, John Klaffer; four brothers, Pleasant Vaughan, Jr., Jim Vaughan, Lee Vaughan and Tommy Vaughan; and a sister, Mary Phillips.
Services for Geneva J. Klaffer will be held at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with visitation on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12: p.m. Burial will be in West Antioch Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
