Geneva R. Ramsey, age 101, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 having lived a long and wonderful life. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, she spent her childhood winters ice skating in Colt and Elizabeth Park and summered on her grandmother’s farm in Middletown with her siblings. She attended Bulkeley High School while she worked in the Colt Firearms factory to help serve our country during WWII. She then continued her education at Saint Agnes Home Training School of Pediatric Nursing, where she graduated in 1944. Soon after, she met her husband, Jack Ramsey, marrying in 1947. For the next 20 years, she moved cross-country twice for Jack’s US Coast Guard career raising 4 sons and finally settling in East Hartford. She spent the remainder of her life in the service of family, often regaling them with stories from her youth, and enjoying her beloved grandchildren.

Guided by a spirit of compassion and service, Geneva devoted 25 years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies' Guild at Saint Christopher Church and was active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at both Saint Christopher and Saint Paul Church, offering comfort and warmth to those in need through her knitting and prayers.

Geneva was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack R. Ramsey; her sisters, Mary Peterson and Irene Demski; her brother, Donald Peterson; and her sons, Michael Ramsey and Thomas Ramsey.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Ramsey and his wife Idalmi of Berlin, CT, and Dennis Ramsey and his wife Mary of Boynton Beach, FL. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Keri Engman, Kristy Ramsey, Dennis Roy Ramsey, Sondra Stevens, David Richardson, Nicole Ramsey, Alex Ramsey, Julian Ramsey, and Gabriel Ramsey. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Bailey Ramsey, Kailyn Dickerson, Danaya Richardson, Adelyn Engman and Austin Ramsey.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Paul Church in Kensington, CT, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM. A private burial will follow.
