Genevieve "Gen" Blumer, 82 of Algona, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A celebration of Gen's life will be held at a later date. Genevieve Alice Blumer, the daughter of Howard and Vivian (Martin) Morse, was born on February 3, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt Hight School with the class of 1961. After graduating, Gen attended La James Beauty School where she earned her cosmetology degree. On September 5, 1978, Gen was united in marriage to Larry Blumer at Elk Point, South Dakota. This union was blessed with two sons: Jim and Brandon. Gen worked as a teller at Iowa State Bank until the time of her retirement. After her retirement, Gen drove a school bus for the Algona Community Schools for 12 years.
Gen enjoyed running, walking and her dogs.
Left to cherish Gen's memory are her husband of 46 years: Larry of Algona; son: Jim Blumer of Lu Verne; grandson: Nikolas Blumer of Des Moines and brother: David (Linda) Morse of Windsor Heights. She was preceded in death by her parents: Howard and Vivian Morse; son: Brandon Blumer; brother-in-law: Denny Blumer and parents-in-law: Delaine and Vera Blumer.
