Genevieve “Sharon” (Price) Dexter, 85, of Gaylord, MI passed away peacefully on Friday October 3, 2025, at Meadow Brook MCF in Bellaire surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Sharon was born on September 24, 1940, in Bremerton, WA. She was the only child to Clark C. & Genevieve “Jenny” E. Price. She was baptized into the Methodist Church in her birth-year. Sharon was a self-proclaimed “Navy Brat” that attended many schools in numerous states in her formative years. Sharon loved to tell stories of her Navy adventures. She graduated in 1958 from Princess Ann High School in Lynnhaven, VA.
Sharon was married for 17 years to the late Richard L. Dexter on December 24, 1959, in Miami, FL. The couple traveled to churches near Naval bases and sang together with the church choirs. They lived in Norfolk, VA, Waterford, MI, Drayton Plains, MI & in 1972 moved to Gaylord, MI. Many wonderful memories were made on Watkins Lake in Waterford, MI with Richard’s family, but most especially her late Brother-in-law Gary & Sister-in-law Pat Dexter.
In Gaylord, Sharon enjoyed participating in ceramics, crochet, bowling, cards, bingo, garage-sales, berry picking, pets, birds and two-tracking looking for elk & deer. She was an avid baker and loved to cook for her family. Sharon had a great enthusiasm for Gaylord’s Alpenfest. Sharon was employed by Glen’s Market in Gaylord for over 20 years where she made many lifelong friends that became extended family to her. After retirement, she flower-gardened, went on many tour bus trips and enjoyed a core group of luncheon friends.
“Sharon will forever be missed by her Children, Kathleen (Ken) Sitkiewicz of Cadillac, MI, Gregg (Ruthann) Dexter of Bellaire, MI.; Grandchildren, Lee (Nina) Dexter of Earlville, IL, Brandon (Hannah) Dexter & her newest Great Granddaughter Pyper, Amy (Jeff) Lake & Great Grandchildren Collin and Addison of Lewiston, MI, and Michael Wurtsmith (Jesse) of San Diego, CA.
