The last time I spent time with Gentry was when I met him, along with Maggie, for four fun days at Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Shaw Festival. We had stayed in touch over the years ever since we met while playing baseball for Oklahoma State. Gentry was a very good hitter, and he made many contributions to a team that placed first, third, and second in the NCAA baseball championships. He was also a very good student and finished his Masters while I was in my senior year. He was very good at keeping track of old friends, even as he and they moved around to advance their careers. Over a decade ago he and Maggie invited my wife Merrily and I to meet them in Toronto for several days of theatre and fine dining. I could always count on Gentry to pick fine wines! I regret that we can´t get together once again.
