Gentry Politte Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 3, 2025.
In loving memory of Gentry W. Politte. He passed away peacefully at age 86 on November 24, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born in St. Louis in 1939. His many interests included tennis, hiking, wine, travelling, books, movies, and following the Yankees and Bills. Early in life he played baseball, including at Oklahoma State University where they won the College World Series in 1959. He was a very successful baseball player and was inducted into the Oklahoma State Hall of Fame.

Gentry and Maggie, his wife of 65 years, loved being together and spending time with family. Italy was a favorite vacation spot. They also enjoyed trips with the extended family to various parts of the United States. The family loved spending time together at Gentry and Maggie's house.

He developed many great friendships over his lifetime which he cherished. He was always there to support his family and friends, and they were always there to support him.

He was a retired Partner with LPA Systems. Prior to LPA, he worked, in order of most recent, for Kodak, General Electric and served as a Lieutenant in the Army. With Kodak, the family moved around about every 18 to 24 months primarily throughout the Midwest, Southwest and Northeast. A family highlight was living for 2 years in Melbourne, Australia, with visits to Sydney, Adelaide, and Dunk Island on the Great Barrier Reef.

Gentry is pre-deceased by his daughter, Lynn Kostel, his parents and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maggie; two children, Jeff (Steph) Politte and Christy (Chris) Adams; son-in-law, Bill Kostel; five grandchildren: Kelsey, Stephen, Meredith, Laura, and Lucas; and one great grandchild, Wesley. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Sparling, a nephew and nieces.

A private graveside service was held for the family. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date. Please check back for updated information.
