Geoffrey Duggan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann on Mar. 26, 2026.
Geoffrey Neal Duggan, age 69, passed away on March 25, 2026, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born on October 3, 1956, Geoff lived a full and devoted life centered around family, faith, and community. A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, he was a lifelong and passionate supporter of UT athletics-especially football. Fall Saturdays were among his favorite times, and he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Vols.

Geoff never met a stranger. He had a natural gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and at ease, and he built friendships wherever he went. Known for his generous spirit and kind heart, he was always ready to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply listen. His genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Geoff dedicated 34 years of his life to teaching, shaping the lives of thousands of students throughout his career at Knoxville Alternative School, South Middle School, and Bearden Middle School. He was known for his humor, his steady encouragement, and the genuine care he showed his students and co-workers. To many, he was more than a teacher-he was a mentor, a role model, and a lasting source of support.

Geoff had a deep love for tennis, both as a player and as a coach. He was especially passionate about teaching young people the game, dedicating countless hours to helping children develop their skills, confidence, and love for the sport. His impact on the court extended far beyond tennis, shaping the lives of many in lasting ways.

He was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he found community and fellowship.

Geoff is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathy Duggan; his daughter, Samantha (Will); and his cherished grandchildren, Charlie, Henry, and Dottie. He is also survived by his brothers, Charley (Sarah Jane) and Roger; and nieces, Julia Jane and Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Duggan, and his sister, Kelly Duggan.

A service will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 AM at Second Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends directly following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Geoff will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his humor, and the unwavering love he shared with his family, friends, students, and all those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fulton High School tennis program. Please make checks out to Fulton High School (tennis in memo line).
