George Lewis Arnold, 85, of Stockbridge, GA peacefully entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 6, 2025 after a lengthy battle with dementia and other health issues. George was born June 25, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Baptist Hospital. George was predeceased in death by his father, George Walter Arnold, Jr., his mother Lenora Elizabeth Miller Turpin, and his sister Gayle (late Jackie) Casey. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley (late Jimmy) Davis, Kathleen (late Barry) Nicholson, Patricia (late Jerry) Cox, and a brother, Warren (Avanelle) Arnold. He leaves behind four children, his son William (Louise) Arnold and his three daughters, Jean Meyberg, Laura (Chris) Wells, and Brenda (late Eddie) Hammonds, along with the mother of his children, Priscilla (late Leroy) Pirkle. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, William (Fran) Arnold, Jr., Kristen (Jeremy) Clark, David Lambertson, Ryan (Cinthya) Wells, Andrew (Abby) Lambertson, Louis Arnold, Morgan (Rush) Maxwell, Alyssa (Conner) Hitch, Joseph Meyberg, and Jacob Meyberg, and a step grandchild, Dennis (Heather) Farhy, along with eleven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. As a very young man, age 16, George entered the United States Navy and though always recalling his fear of being so young, he was proud to have served his country. He loved to tell stories about his time and duties while on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier. It was near the end of his service in the Navy when he met Priscilla of Spokane, Washington. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Georgia where he and Priscilla raised their four children in Stone Mountain, Georgia. They were very active in the lives of their children, helping with school work and events, helping to coach their children's recreational sports teams, never missing a high school football or basketball game, and spending summer vacations at the beach or traveling across the country to Spokane. George enjoyed hunting with his son in the early years and spending time with his kids at Stone Mountain Park. George was hired with General Motors in Doraville, GA where he spent 30 plus years working on the assembly line in different titles and capacities and was a member of UAW Local 10. George was always very active and, as a disciplinarian, valued hard work, a trait he was proud to instill in his children. Once retired from GM, he spent several years driving a Special Education school bus for Henry County Public School System which brought him great joy as he referred to the students as "my kids". Although George did not have a physical church congregation he regularly attended, he understood "the church" was not just a physical structure but was the body of Christ where Christ was the head. He spent much of his later years studying God's Word and loved attending church services via television. He had several pastors he enjoyed; however, he loved worshipping from home with Pastor Jimmy Swaggart, listening to both his sermons and worship music. He loved the Lord and wherever he went he would openly share his love for the Lord and telling others, "I found Him (Jesus Christ) a long time ago." George loved the Cross and what it represents. He loved to tell others what it meant to him. Because of his love for the Lord and his gratefulness of the ransom that Christ paid on the Cross, George's earthly body, at his request, will be laid to rest near the foot of the Cross monument at Hill Haven Memory Gardens, in Monroe, GA, while his soul will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many". Mark 10:45 Funeral arrangements will be provided by Tim Stewart Funeral Home,
Loganville, GA. A private graveside only service will be held at Hill Haven Memory Gardens for immediate and extended family.
