George Carl Berg, aged 88, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at Cottagewood Senior Communities Memory Care.
Born December 7, 1937, in La Crosse, WI, to Norman and Dorothy (Stanley) Berg, George spent his childhood in Rushford, MN. After graduating from Rushford High School, he earned his teaching degree from Winona State University and later achieved a Master's Degree in Education. He began his teaching career at LeRoy-Ostrander Public Schools in Iowa before spending thirty-five years teaching industrial arts in Rochester Public Schools, retiring in 1997.
In 1958, George married Laurie Lynne Anderson of Lake City, MN, and together they raised three children-David, Judith, and Daniel-before divorcing in 1981. He married Judith Sue Schrage in 1983.
George cherished camping in his younger years and enjoyed traveling after retirement. He developed a passion for photography and bird watching. Staying connected with former students was important to him, and he took pride in their accomplishments. He was a devote man, he was a father, husband, uncle, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Judith (Schrage) Berg; daughter Judy (Richard) Bjornaas of Hamilton, VA; son David Berg of Ocean Shores, WA; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Dorothy; son Daniel; brother Robert Ingram; and sister Kathy Hauer.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cottagewood Senior Communities and the Mayo Clinic Hospice team for their excellent and compassionate care of George.
