George William Burroughs, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Lewes, Delaware. He was 74. Born on April 12, 1951, in Camden, New Jersey, George was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (née Leeson) Burroughs. He graduated from Springfield High School in Pennsylvania in 1969. George had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He found joy in caring for his yard, riding his Gator, and tending to his trees and plants. He had a lifelong love for animals, especially his beloved fur-babies, Mya and Bear, huskies who were always close by. An adventurous spirit, George enjoyed boating, camping, going for drives in his classic cars, and relaxing in his hot tub. He could always be found listening to music or watching You-Tube videos. Family was at the heart of everything George did. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Burroughs (née Ford); his children, Alycia, Andrew, Alexander, and Arthur Burroughs; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Julia, Skylee, Alexander, Fiona, and Desmond. George was blessed with a great-grandchild, Maximus, and is also remembered by his nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents Harry Burroughs and Dorothy Leeson Griffonetti and his brother, Harry D. Burroughs II, and stepson Julian Brooks. George loved dining out and spending time with family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the strong values he passed down through generations. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Mary Mother of Peace Church, 30839 Mount Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held privately. FLORIST NOTE: PLEASE HAVE ALL FLOWERS DELIVERED ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2025 BY 3 PM. TO OUR LEWES LOCATION. Please sign the tribute wall located on this site.
