It is with great sadness that the family of John Edward "Eddie" Smith, Sr announce his passing on August 22, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Ridgely, Maryland John was the son of the late Olas E. Smith and Ruth Brittingham Smith. A lifelong resident of Lewes, John attended Lewes High School and was an Army Veteran. He loved the beach and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his family and spending time with them. His grandchildren gave him his greatest joy. John is survived by his four children, Cheryl Styron (Bob), John Smith Jr (Lauri), Carol Steigerwalt (Dave), and Johnna Hughes (Joel W), 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his secret loves Selena Gomez and Lindsey Lohan. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM following the visitation. Interment will be private at St. Peter's Pilottown Cemetery, Lewes, DE. All those unable to attend the services are invited to join the service via livestreaming by visiting the following link: http://www.parsellfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/permalink/11901396/LTWebcast In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Village Volunteers or Meals on Wheels in Lewes/Rehoboth.
