George Butler Obituary

George Mitchell Butler

Asheville - George Mitchell Butler, age 65 of Asheville took his final heavenly ride Wednesday March 17th, 2021.

Mitch was born November 3rd, 1955 in Buncombe County to the late Harold Watts Butler and Elizabeth Ann Butler. A loving son, brother and father, his kind and generous soul touched everyone he met. Mitch successfully owned and operated MB Painting for many years. A true outdoorsman, he had a love for hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding through Love Valley and Catalouchee with Ozzy (his favorite quarter horse). These were many of his passions in life. Mitch was always the jokester and loved to make you smile. Mitch's life was his family; the greatest part of that was being called Poppy. The love for his grandchildren was unmeasurable.

Mitch is survived by his son Cory (Jaimi) Butler of Asheville; grandchildren, April, Jaxson and Dylan; brothers, Bob (wife Teresa) Butler of Mills River and Leslie Butler of Asheville; sisters, Iris (Barry) Hinze of Fletcher and Cynthia Butler of Asheville; 6 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and 1 great- great niece.

James 4:14 "Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring--what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes."

A celebration of life service will be held at Mount Zion Church in Arden, NC Saturday, March 27th at 4:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 2:00 - 4:00.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to encourage a donation to Mitch's life-long church, Mount Zion.
