George Canfield
January 23, 1949 - January 4, 2025
George K. Canfield, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was the husband of Sue (Murphy) Canfield. He was born January 23, 1949, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, the son of the late George K. Canfield and Charlotte R. Gale, and had lived in Norfolk for 25 years, prior to moving to Winsted.
George was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation, retiring from the position of Bridge Maintenance Manager in 2009. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Kevin Canfield and Keri Cato; four grandchildren, Chelsea Palmer, Taryn Canfield, Paulmer Cato, and Gia Canfield; great-grandchildren, Jack and Lily Palmer; sister, Patricia Phillips; and half-brother, Christian Canfield. He was recently predeceased by his beloved dog, Bob, that everyone in his community knew.
There will be no calling hours and services will be private. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted has care of the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to: The Little Guild for the Welfare of Animals Inc., 285 Sharon Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796-0059.
