He was the devoted husband of Felicia, loving father of Elliot, Carolann and Allison, the best
Papa to Lauren, Deanna, James, Daniel, Adeline, Charles, Parker, Ashley and Collin. He will be deeply
and lovingly missed by all. George Carruthers was United States Marine and Sergeant for both
NYPD and OCSD. He was a fierce protector and friend. He was our rock, our strength, our
compass, our laughter and will be forever our hearts.
Born on November 24 th 1943 at First Caledonian Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, George was
the youngest child of William and Catherine, both from Glasgow, Scotland. George joined the
united States Marine Corps where he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, Camp Pendleton and
Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. One of the kindest souls, our father was a gentle,
giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced
every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. George, Dad, Papa; you are now at
peace and you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace with
everlasting love.

When we fell asleep in the car as little kids. You always had the best shoulders to carry us into the house. You gave the best hugs Dad. I love you!
