Beloved husband, father, and grandfather George William Connors passed away at the age of 81 on August 22nd, 2024 in Kingston, New York, days away from he and his wife's 61st wedding anniversary. George was born on June 8th, 1943 to mother Edith, and father Samuel.
George grew up attending Poughkeepsie Schools. He married the love of his life, Sharon, on August 25th, 1963 at the First Baptist Church of Poughkeepsie, New York and they were happily married for nearly 59 years until her passing on June 2nd, 2022. George retired from the Teamsters Local 445 after over 30 years of service. He is survived by his daughters Kathy DuPilka and Donna Geick, son-in-law Richard Geick, grandchildren Michael, Paige, and Austin DuPilka, Justin and Trevor Way, Courtney Morrison and her husband Ryan, Jacob Geick, sister Gail Gano, brother Theodore Connors, several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend Jim "JJ" Johnson. George is predeceased by his mother and father, sisters Cathy Connors, Jeannine Comiskey and Jacqueline Coty, brothers Arnold and Samuel Connors, and son-in-law, David DuPilka.
George will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, uncle, friend, and most of all the best "Pop-Pop" his grandkids could ask for as he cherished them and did everything he could to make them happy. He was an avid Yankees fan and played on Bus & Rose's softball team where he was known for his many home runs. George enjoyed watching westerns and gambling at the casino with his wife with the goal to win big and further spoil their children and grandchildren. He was happiest at home with his wife and family. The family of George Connors will honor his spirit with togetherness, love, and humorous memories of his straightforward attitude.
Services for George will be held on Tuesday, August 27th at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, in Poughkeepsie, New York during the calling hours of 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Immediately following these services, George will be laid to rest next to his wife in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park, New York.
