He came to Fort Worth to live with his uncle HR Stewart when he was 10 years old where he learned how to milk cows, run a dairy and run a milk route selling and delivering milk. He was drafted into the Army in 1944 and was stationed in the Philippines during fighting in World War 2. After that he spent a year in the military occupation of Japan.

They even drove their truck and camper to Alaska. They were members of Campers for Christ camping club for many years and have many friends from that time.
George loved to talk and meet new people all over the country. He especially loved to talk about the Lord Jesus Christ and lead others to Him. George was known for his storytelling. He loved to tell stories from his life and from his military service to anyone willing to listen. His stories were interesting to everyone so he was able to repeat them frequently.
