George H. "Butch" Curtis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 1st, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on Thursday, June 5th, 1947, Butch was a cherished resident of Albion, NY, who touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and vibrant spirit.
For 60 wonderful years, Butch shared his life with his devoted wife, Judy. Together, they created a family filled with love and laughter, raising their children George (Annette) Curtis of Holley, NY, Donna (Michelle Thomas) Curtis of MI, and Dawn (Steve) Street of MI. Butch's legacy is carried on by his grandchildren Cortney, Jennifer (Henry), George, Cody (Stephanie), Colby (Stacy), Shane, Tyler, and Sara, as well as his great-grandchildren Charlotte, Sully, Greyson, Owen, Devin, Lawrence, Aarya, Delilah, Allie, and Oliver. He is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Butch was predeceased by his parents, George Sr. and Dorothy (Phillips) Curtis, and his sister, Joann Langavin.
An active member of the Holley VFW, Butch was a man of many passions. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and his love for racing translated into years of driving stock cars at Lancaster Speedway. Butch's dedication to auto racing became a cherished family tradition, continuing through go-cart racing for over two decades with his son and grandson. Beyond the track, Butch was known for his skills as a mechanic and tow-truck operator. He found joy on the open road on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, often sharing adventures with Judy along the iconic Route 66.
Butch's greatest joy, however, was being surrounded by his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His warmth and humor created a beacon of joy, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, located at 21 West Avenue, Albion, on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, from 2-5 PM. A celebration of Butch's life will take place at a later date, to be announced by the family.
In lieu of flowers, Butch's family kindly requests the donation of flannel shirts to the Vets of Batavia or items for a gift basket to be donated to cancer centers. Please bring items to calling hours. These contributions honor his giving spirit and his commitment to supporting those in need.
