George Dammann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maurina/Schilling Funeral Homes - Colby on Sep. 2, 2025.
George H. Dammann, age 77, of Spencer, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

George was born on July 19, 1948, in LaCrosse, WI and later adopted, at an early age, by John and Edna (Schmidt) Dammann. He attended Nekoosa High School. In 1975, George married Connie Ripley in New Miner, WI, but they later divorced. He did a lot of farming throughout his life including running a large sheep farm, worked on a few potato farms and his own small hobby farm. He also cut pulpwood for Mike Bertotto.

George enjoyed working on cars and helping those in need when needed. His many hobbies involved being outdoors fishing, hunting and camping, ice fishing. Also, just sitting outside with his friends, just telling stories or working on puzzles with them. He loved to be with his children and grandchildren. His greatest passions, more than anything, was the joy he found with his grandchildren doing whatever they could dream up and watching the older seven of them grow into strong, kind young adults and the two younger grandchildren following closely in their footsteps.

George is survived by his five children: Jon (Jess) Dammann of Wis. Rapids, Melissa (Troy) Pue of Colby, Amy (Zach) Schmitt of Loyal, Kristi Kulbacki of Loyal and Mandy (Lee) Bochanyin of Bonduel; nine grandchildren: Shayla, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Kyden, Cohlton, Jayden, Asher, Nova and Axel: his best friend and fishing and hunting partner, Alan Arendt.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

George will be missed by so many of his close friends and neighbors, also his grand dogs that loved to see him and spend time with him outside. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who was cherished for so many reasons by his grandchildren and their friends that looked up to him and called him 'Gramps'.
