George DeHorney was born on December 15, 1947, to the late George Washington DeHorney, Sr. and Rosie Mae Jackson in Denison, Texas.

George professed Christ at an early age and attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a devoted deacon. He received his formal education at Terrell High School, where he played football. Following high school, George began his working career at John Manville and later retired from Libby Owens Ford in Sherman, Texas.

Growing up, George had a passion for playing golf and watching football. On November 11, 1971, George married Beverly O'Neal, his loving bride of 54 years. George DeHorney was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle whose presence will be deeply missed.

George was preceded in death by Pastor William Topsy and his grandmother Azell Topsy; his father, Pastor George W. DeHorney, Sr., and his wife Ola Faye DeHorney; and his brothers Pastor Jerry DeHorney, Rev. Thurman DeHorney, Robert DeHorney, Ricky DeHorney, and Paul DeHorney.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverly DeHorney; children, Cristeena Lormaine and Robert DeHorney; grandchildren, Kennedy DeHorney and Ryan DeHorney; daughter-in-law Amanda DeHorney; son-in-law Henry Lormaine; brothers Eddie DeHorney (Martha), Harold (Samira) DeHorney, and Anthony (Alisha) DeHorney; sisters Cynthia (Alvin) Brown, Phyllis (Randall) Akers, Shirley (Ebbie) Watson, Kristi (Terry) Roberson, and Felicia (Aubrey) Hockoday; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Braxton officiating. He will lie in state from 11am - 5 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison, Texas.
