George E. Drendel

George E Drendel, 99, of Hampshire, passed peacefully away in the early morning hour on Friday, February, 6, 2026, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

He was born November 12th, 1926, in Huntley, the Son of Frank and Henrietta (Schiesher) Drendel. He married Marcella Engel on November 24, 1948, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire.

George was a life long farmer and enjoyed selling seed to area farmers for over 30 years. He was a member of several agricultural organizations and enjoyed attending various family activities.

He will be deeply missed by his family, and many friends. He is survived by his children, Dale (Linda), Rod (Linda), Cindy Edwards, and Mark (Pam); grandchildren, Carrie (Ryan) Corson, Jeff Drendel, Julie (JW) Ashton, Coryn (Art) Pinon, Amber (Ross) Martin, Briana (Ben) Frei, Elizabeth (Burt) Thome, Steven (Melissa) Edwards, Jamie (Mike) Kirk, Lindsay (Ron) Carlson, Jennifer (Eric) Burdette, Michael (Rebecca) Drendel, Matthew (Madeline) Drendel, and Kristina (Hanson Hagemann) Drendel; 28 great grandchildren; brother, Vernon Drendel; and sister, Joyce Allen.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Marcella; son, Gordon; parents, Frank and Henrietta Drendel; brother, Floyd; and sister, Irene.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27th, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 197 E. Jefferson Ave., Hampshire, IL, from 10:00 to 10:50 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name may be directed to the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or School.
