George R. Dubose, 94, of Peru, Indiana passed away at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana surrounded by his family on December 20, 2025.
George was born September 28, 1931 to Willie and Verna Dubose. He was 1 of 4 children.
George joined the military (Army first) in June of 1952 and retired from the Air Force in February of 1974.
George fought in both the Korean and Vietnam War. He started a career at the Peru – United States Post Office. In the early 80's and retired from the post office 1998. George loved activities, such as fishing, hunting, and gardening. He planted a garden almost every year until he turned 85 years old. George loved his family and friends. Phone calls and in person visits were his favorite. He also loved to share and give back. Therefore, sending out cards with a "little something in them" made his day. George was sharp and had a memory like you wouldn't believe. He will forever be missed! His integrity, kindness and generosity will have a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by is devoted son Joseph Quincy Jones of Peru, Indiana and his daughter Cynthia (Darius) of Carmel, Indiana. 2 sweet grandchildren Xavier and Alese McFadden.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. An additional hour of visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The funeral service will follow at 11am with Rev. Bolin officiating. Interment will take place at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Savoy, Mississippi.
