In Loving Memory of George Duran Jr.
It is with deep sorrow that the family of George Duran, Jr. announces his passing on November 8, 2024, at the age of 65, of natural causes in his beloved hometown of Buena Vista, New Mexico. George was a lifelong resident of Buena Vista and a proud graduate of Mora High School, class of 1977. He was known for his kind heart, generosity, and unwavering love for the outdoors. George had a passion for helping others and was always ready to lend a hand. He was also a devoted Denver Broncos fan, enjoying many games with friends and family throughout the years.
George will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his father, George William Duran, and his beloved companion, Lorraine Vigil.
George is survived by his mother, Velma Duran, of Buena Vista; his daughter, Krystle Duran, and grandchildren: Alexis, Jesus, Josiah, JR, and Ava. Along with his siblings, Cleo Montoya (David), Sally Valdez (Joe Gurule), Berna Duran, Annette Martinez, Larry Duran (Esther), Ronald Duran (Cecilia Romero), and Mario Duran (Amy). He is also survived by his stepchildren: Charlotte Vasquez (John), Shirley Vasquez (Ruben Jr.), John Gonzales, Jessica Gonzales (Alfonso Martinez), and Bertha Gonzales-Espinoza (Christopher).
George is remembered with love by his special niece, Felisha Montoya; special nephew, Joshua Martinez; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and his cherished uncle, Tony Pino. He was also a devoted godfather to Ivan Pino.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a Rosary on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gertrude Parish in Mora, NM. A Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Gertrude Parish in Mora, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers; Joshua Martinez, Ryan Duran, Jason Marquez, George Garcia Jr., David Martinez Jr., Jaime Duran, Ivan Pino, and Marvin Cordova. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Pino, Fred Pino, Bengie Pino, Marino Pino, Armando Pino, and Leon Pino. A private burial will take place at a later time.
George's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his family is grateful for the love and support they have received during this time of loss.
