George Flint Berlin was born on December 12, 1924, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to parents George Oswald Berlin and Goldia Winnifred Berlin. He was the oldest of three, with brothers Brent and Kent Berlin.

Flint was truly full of life, a man with genuine interest in the stories of others and was a storyteller to the very end of his ninety-eight plus years. He filled the space around him with smiles and laughter, but most importantly, Flint shared so much love and support for his family and friends as well as many others whom he met along the way. While he will be dearly missed by all who knew him, Flint was ready to reunite in heaven with his beloved “Buckie”, the love of his life and wife of 67 years.

Flint served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy’s Higgins boat crews that transported fellow servicemen, including General Douglas McArthur, to safety in the Philippines during World War II.

After his safe return home, Flint and Mary Nell began an iconic love story and joined hearts in marriage on October 16, 1948. Together, they raised three children of their own and created a joyful life. A self-made business man in the oil and gas industry, Flint worked hard to provide a quality existence for their family. He was devoted to each day’s purpose and it showed in his confidence and authenticity.

At the time of his peaceful passing, Flint was a doting grandfather, endearing himself as “Paw Paw” to eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. It was a delight to go through life knowing Flint’s sense of humor and to feel his endless encouragement. Every time he sang his favorite songs by heart was a gift of being shown how to love “being alive”. He was an entertainer till the end. Love never leaves us, and Flint’s family and friends are forever grateful for the love he shared. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Goldia Berlin, his wife Mary Nell Berlin and his brother Kent Berlin.

Flint is survived by his brother Brent Berlin and wife Eloise Ann; children, Rocky Berlin and wife Ramona, Ricky Berlin and wife Nancy, Kimbi Bartik and husband Mike; grandchildren, Corey Berlin and wife Stacie, Kelli Bartik, Brock Berlin and wife Amy, Bo Bartik and wife Gerlania, Natalie Berlin, Taylor Berlin and wife Sara, Kati Bartik, Tanner Berlin and wife Kayla; great-grandchildren, Ali Grace, Briggs, Brody, Ava, Bryce, Bear, Colby, Caleb, Sophia, Breece, and Reese, as well as several extended members of the family and many friends.

Honoring Flint as pallbearers will be Corey Berlin, Brock Berlin, Bo Bartik, and Taylor Berlin. The family would like to thank the The Blake at Bossier City, NWLA War Veterans Home, Bristol Hospice and Inner Quality Services for the care they provided.
