George A. Gibbs of Beaumont, Texas passed away on September 3, 2025. He was born June 11, 1959, at the Air Force Base in Laredo, Texas to George A. Gibbs and Deanna (Starks) Gibbs.

After George graduated from Dover Air Force Base High School, he completed a year at Virginia Military Institute. He was a graduate of Oakland City University with a degree in secondary education in math and minor in computers. Then went on to attend Officer Candidate School in Ft. Benning Georgia. George was in the Army for just about 13 years in tank and armored cavalry. He entered the Military on June 11, 1986, and was honorably discharged on February 2, 1999. During his time in the service he was deployed several times, like Korea, Turkey and Germany with the whole family residing there with him. He loved history especially studying World War and the Civil War. He loved to play the trumpet. While he was living in the area or on leave he would attend many Veteran Day ceremonies at some of the local cemeteries, volunteering to play taps on the bugle. You would not dare to ask him to play chess because he would want to play for hours and you would never win. He had a great love for the game and was a skilled player. George will be deeply missed by those who loved him dearly.

George is survived by his three daughters, Katrina (Wayne) Guynn of Huntingburg, IN., Casey (Vince) Gibson of Kinston, NC., and Sarah (Kevin) Linares of Daly, CA.; his grandchildren, Kinleigh and Wyatt Guynn, Kaleena, Marquis and Vicente Linares; his mother Deanna (Starks) Gibbs-Taillon of Newburgh, IN.; his sisters, Pamela (Steve) Couts of Oakland City, IN. and Laurie (John) Barnett of Oakland City, IN.; and his many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, George A. Gibbs; his grandparents, Bruce and Mae Bell McNew, and Victor and Irene Starks.

A visitation was held on Saturday September 27, 2025, 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., with service at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at Somerville Cemetery. Pastor Jared Henry will officiate the service.
