George Wayne Greer, 85, of Indianapolis passed away August 3, 2024, with family at his side.

George was born in Mitchell, IN, July 13, 1939, the son of Lawrence and Agnes (Tow) Greer.

George met and married the love of his life, Marilyn Sue Hopper. They were wed February 28, 1958, and were married 64 years until his death.

George was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He found joy sitting on a boat with a fishing pole in his hand or in a hunting blind looking for the next elusive buck.

George was a devout Christian who shared God’s message with his children, grandchildren, and anybody he felt needed to hear it.

George was especially proud of his family. His continual support, encouragement, sense of humor, and storytelling will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, his children Julie Leach of Columbus, IN; Susan (Russell) Webb of Avon, IN; Cindy Chase of Indianapolis; his grandchildren Terry Prewitt, Jacob Prewitt, George Prewitt, Justin Hurtubise, Kandise Duncan, Jennifer Hurtubise, Sarah Foust, Jordan Webb, Emma Chase, and Roger Chase; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in the chapel at West Ridge Park Cemetery at 9295 W. 21st Street in Indianapolis, with funeral at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, perform a random act of kindness for a neighbor.
