George Harvey Guertin 95, passed away December 22, 2025, at the Idaho State Veteran's Home in Boise Idaho.
George spent his early life in northern Idaho, hunting, fishing, being a lumberjack and providing for his mother and younger sister.
As the war came to the United States, George enlisted in the Air force and was trained as a medic. He later switched fields and went into Contracting, winning many awards.
George met and married the love of his life, Hanna Damm when he was stationed in Germany. In 1953, their first daughter Rita was born. Coming back to the US, Hanna obtained her US citizenship, which she was very proud of. Then in 1955, their second daughter Desi was born.
George and Hanna and the girls traveled all over the US including the island of Guam.
In 1969 the family settled back in Mountain Home, Idaho and lived life working camping and enjoying Idaho life. After 24 years, George retired from the Air Force in 1971 then went on to 20 years in Civil Service.
When Hanna became ill, they moved to Meridian, Idaho to be near doctors. She passed away in 2003 after 50 years of marriage. George then married Alice Daly in 2004 and had almost 20 years of marriage until Alice passed in March of 2025. By then, George was residing at the Veteran's Home in Boise.
George is survived by daughters, Rita (Dave) Harris of Mountain Home, Idaho and Desi (Steve) Mayes of Nampa, Idaho, as well as 6 grandkids, 12 great grandkids, 2 great great grandkids and a niece and nephew in Washington state.
The family would like to thank the nurses, staff, and volunteers of the Idaho State Veteran's Home in Boise for their loving care of George.
Direct cremation is under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City. There will be a private family service at a later date where George's ashes will be joined with Hanna's at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
