George Gulinello Obituary

Published by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home on Mar. 12, 2018.
George Gulinello, age 58, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 12, 2018 in his North Easton, Massachusetts home. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 27, 1959, he was the son of George F. and Arcangela M. (Arena) Gulinello. He spent his early years in South Boston before his family settled into their home in Dorchester. George graduated from Boston Latin School with the Class of 1977 and continued his education at Bentley College, earning his Associate Degree with a focus in accounting. After graduation, George found work with the Morse Shoe Company in Canton and began taking night classes at Suffolk University. He remained with the shoe company when it became the J. Baker Shoe Company; however in 1997, he took a job with Shaw's Supermarket, working in the Tax Department. In 2005, George returned to the building where his working career began, taking a position with Casual Male in Canton, now DXL, filling the role of Tax Manager. While at DXL, George was a member of the Core Values Recognition Committee and was a fearless fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Throughout his life, George was an avid sports fan. He held season tickets for the Boston Red Sox and took annual trips to watch spring training with his father. In addition, he was a previous season ticket holder for the Boston Celtics, back when they played in the original Boston Garden. George also loved college basketball and looked forward to March Madness every year, often attending Big East games at Madison Square Garden. No one knew sports statistics better than George, and he used his knowledge to assist him with his rotisserie baseball league for almost 30 years. George was a cheerful and optimistic man, whose gentle nature won him the hearts of all that knew him. His family and friends meant the world to him and he will be sorely missed. Beloved son of Arcangela (Arena) Gulinello of Boston and the late George Gulinello. He was the adored brother of Marie Gulinello of Boston and Joan Gulinello and her husband Dennis Hart of Boston and Norfolk. George was the proud and cherished uncle of Sarah Hart McLaughlin and her husband Thomas of Westwood and the proud and cherished godfather and uncle of Paul Gulinello Hart and Joanna Schoen of Brookline. He was the doting great uncle of Robert P. McLaughlin of Westwood. Also survived by many devoted friends, colleagues and former colleagues, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend George's Life Celebration on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 3 to 7 PM and Monday, March 19, 2018 from 9 to 9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Jude Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I knew George in at Latin. He was a gentle, positive guy who never said a mean word.

My prayers and thoughts are with George's family on his unexpected passing. I worked with George (GG) almost 30 years ago at Morse Shoe and have done rotisserie baseball with him since then. Great sports knowledge, always a smile and/or a quip.....He will be missed greatly by all of his friends and family.

Dear Joan,
I read of your brother's sudden and unexpected death in the Globe on Saturday.
Unfortunately, I am unable to be present at St. Jude's for the funeral tomorrow but I will offer Mass for him at the same time here at the seminary.
My warmest greetings to you, Dennis, Sarah and Paul at this very sad time.

I'm very sad to hear about George's passing. I had the great privilege to work with him at DXLG. George was an intelligent and dedicated accountant; a model to us all. More importantly he was a terrific human being. No doubt his friendship and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. May all of George's favorite sports teams win a championship soon, and in his honor.

I work at DXL and talked to George often. I am a Yankees fan, but George forgave me for that. He was always fun to talk to, and he will be very missed by us here at DXL. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was so sad to learn of George's passing this week. I've worked with George for 8 years at DXL and count him among my friends. I will miss our nearly daily discussions of the Patriots, Red Sox, and especially at this time of year, college basketball. DXL will sorely miss George's unique personality and sense of humor; it won't be the same here without him.
