Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home - Clinton on Jan. 21, 2026.
George Stanley Stan Hewitt, 74, passed away on July 13, 2025, in Warsaw, Missouri. He resided with his sister in Tightwad, Missouri, before moving to Warsaw Health and Rehab Center. A proud Missourian through and through, Stan was born on April 17, 1951, in Jefferson City to George L. Hewitt and Hazel (Hall) Hewitt. He spent most of his life in the Show-Me State, with only a brief time living in Philadelphia.
Stan served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1972. Stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Belton, Missouri, he carried with him a deep sense of duty and patriotism that remained with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Stan embarked on a long and adventurous career as an over-the-road truck driver. For more than 30 years, he crisscrossed the country behind the wheel of his rig, collecting stories from the roadsome humorous, others harrowingthat he loved to share with friends and family. His time on the road gave him a deep appreciation for the vastness and beauty of America.
Stan was deeply committed to his faith. A devoted Baptist and an ordained minister, he was a member of Parks Chapel Baptist Church in Tightwad, Missouri. He served as pastor, not only at Parks Chapel Baptist Church, but also ministered to other area churches over the years. His dedication to serving others through the ministry was one of the cornerstones of his life.
Stan had a zest for life that was evident to all who knew him. He loved music and could often be found strumming his guitar or enjoying a tune with friends. A Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he relished riding across Missouris backroads on his beloved motorcycle. Whether it was sharing laughs with his buddies or spending quiet moments with one of his many dogs over the years, Stan embraced life fully and joyfully.
He cherished lifelong friendships, none more enduring than that with Art Felton, whom he met in kindergarten. Their bond spanned decades and stood as a testament to loyalty and shared memories.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel Hewitt, and an older brother, Harold Hewitt. He is survived by his son Jace Hewitt of Lees Summit; sister June Builderback of Tightwad; brother Brian Hewitt of Springfield; many nieces and nephews; and several step-grandchildren.
May Stans memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to those who hear his story.
Services will be held on July 19, with visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Consalus Funeral Home to offset the funeral cost.
