George Jackson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 24, 2025.
George Terrel Jackson passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025 in Plano, Texas surrounded by his family. George was born on March 29, 1929 in Luthersville, GA to Eldridge Walker Jackson and Willie Mae Holt. He had three brothers and two sisters. After his mother died of blood poisoning when he was nine, George moved with his siblings to his Grandmothers farm where he worked the farm with his brother Bill. After leaving school, George and his brother Bill moved to Georgia to seek their fortune. George served two years in the Army in Germany and then returned back to Atlanta where he met his future wife, Ola Mae Cole. Shortly after they married, he began his career in commercial refrigeration where he worked for 50 years spending a majority of his career with Mabry and Haynes where he was the Service Manager. He was a loyal husband and a dedicated father to his five children, who was always there when it counted. He retired and spent several decades of his life on his property in Conyers, Georgia where he grew the best tomatoes in Georgia.

George was unfailingly honest and generous, always willing to help those in need. He was a hard worker who, when faced with the financial challenges of raising five children, never complained, he just worked longer and harder to keep his family clothed and fed.

After suffering a stroke in November, 2021 George's daughter Jean and her husband Bob moved him to Texas (where his son Norman also lived) in early 2022, where he resided at Sunrise Assisted Living in Plano for the remainder of his life. Jean was a constant presence, making sure George was well taken care of. George loved sitting outside on the patio, watching the birds, rabbits and squirrels playing in the courtyard. The caregivers loved George's smile and attitude, and he loved them.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae, his sons James and Terrel, and his daughter Phyllis. He is survived by his Son Norman Jackson of Frisco, Texas, his daughter Jean Whiting and her husband Bob of Carrollton, Texas, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

George will be interred at Eternal Hills in Snellville, Georgia next to his wife, Ola Mae and his sons James and Terrel. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who wish to honor George to make a contribution to The Salvation Army.
