George Edwin “Eddie” Johnston, 78, of Haydenville, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Eddie was born on July 23, 1947, in Kingsport, Tennessee, son of the late Harry J. and Victoria E. (Napier) Johnston. He was married for 58 years to Betty Jane (Bentley) Johston who survives.
Eddie was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and loved his family unconditionally. He was also a Buckeye through and through.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Gary E. (Tina) Johnston of Creola, David A. Johnston of Bremen, and John D. (Christine) Johnston of Jackson; grandchildren, Brittany, Jessica, Chelsey, Ariel, Natasha, Courtney, Nathan, Sheila, Dillon, Carsten, Autumn, and Tyler; and great grandchildren, Aryss, Kayleigh, Thomas, Shawn, David, Braydon, Jaxon, Arabella, Phoenix, Austin, Kingston, Gunner, Brynleigh, and 2 more on the way.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Desley and Pluma (Smallwood) Bentley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Garrett Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur, with Pastor Randolph Hall officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service.
Donations can be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
