George D. Kackert, 87, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at his
home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 8, 1937, in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Sarah Ellen and George Kackert, Sr.
Growing up on Aurora's east side of Pigeon Hill, he attended St. Therese Elementary School,
Marmion Military Academy ('56), and continued his higher education at Aurora University and
Northern Illinois University.
After graduating from Marmion Military Academy, George proudly volunteered and served his
country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. He married Dianne (Dummett) on
June 27, 1964, in Aurora, where they raised their four children. George was a devoted
parishioner of Annunciation Church for over 58 years, instilling solid family values and a strong
work ethic in his children and grandchildren.
For decades, George dedicated his time to mentoring, teaching and coaching hundreds of youths
in Aurora, offering guidance in football, basketball, and baseball at Annunciation School, the
Aurora Catholic League, and Boys Baseball of Aurora. His unwavering commitment and
generous contributions to boy's baseball in Aurora earned him a well-deserved spot in the Aurora
Boys Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
A passionate supporter of Catholic education, George was one of the first Trustees of Rosary
High School and was honored as a Life Member of Rosary's Veritas Society for his dedication
and generosity. George also supported Marmion Academy for over fifty years and was awarded
the prestigious Marmion Centurion Award for his exceptional service to the Marmion Monastic
Community.
Throughout his life, George made a lasting impact in the construction industry. After his time in
the Marine Corps and upon graduating college, George began his early career as a carpenter. He
later went on to build a successful general contracting and land development company from the
ground up, completing projects across Illinois, Texas, and Florida. His family was his greatest
joy, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.
George is survived by his wife Dianne of sixty-one years; four children, Catherine (Brad) Unruh,
Daniel Kackert, Patrick (Antonietta) Kackert, Michael (Michele) Kackert; fourteen
grandchildren; Christopher Unruh, Conroy Unruh, Caity Unruh, Patricia Kackert, Jonathon
Kackert, Elizabeth Kackert, Joseph Kackert, Alexandra Kackert, Gabriella Kackert, Adriana
Kackert, Guiliana Kackert, Emma Kackert, Michael Kackert, Nicholas Kackert; one brother
Timothy Kackert of Sedona, Arizona, and many other family members and friends who will miss
him dearly.
George was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Sarah Ellen Kackert; two sisters, Nan
Jean Popp and Norma Jean Kackert.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 from 3pm to 7pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street Aurora, IL 60506.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY at 9:30am to Annunciation Church, 1820 Church Road, Aurora, IL 60505 at 10am. The Monks of Marmion Abbey will officiate with interment in Marywood Cemetery.
George's legacy of selflessness, commitment, and love for his family, community and country
will never be forgotten.

George was a favorite cousin of mine. He always respected family and would help in any way he could. My father and his father were siblings and always visited each other and I would tag along ( I was very young).
Please know I will cherish his memory forever.

My condolences to the Kackert family. I enjoyed working with George on many construction & development projects through the years. Always had a great time just sitting and talking about life with him.

I have not had the chance to meet Mr. George D. Kackert in person, nor any of his family members as a matter of fact.
However, I know Mike for 2 years. The way he always talks about his family, his kindheartedness, the laughter that always surrounds him; is a reflection of his education by his beloved mother and father and a happy family.
I am truly sorry for your loss. I wish for your family peace and comfort as you grieve.
