Susan Thill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Daleiden Mortuary on Feb. 27, 2026.
Susan "Sue" Thill passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, surrounded by family, after 86 years full of laughter and love.

Even though Sue and her husband, Jim, both attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they didn't meet until they went on a blind date in San Francisco, California. They spent 41 wonderful years together raising their three children, doting on their grandchildren, playing cards with dear friends, finding treasures while antiquing, and taking many trips, including traveling to Ireland and Alaska.

Sue was warm, generous, and independent. She made friends everywhere she went, frequently striking up conversations with strangers and delighting in unexpected connections. Sue was practical, sunny, and quick to laugh. Her home was always decorated for the season, and she loved to host visitors. She was an excellent shopper and loved to give gifts - no one ever left her home empty-handed. No one left with an empty stomach, either. Sue liked to take care of people; fittingly, she worked as a school nurse for decades. She was also a storyteller and loved to reminisce over long games of Solitaire and Sevens with her grandchildren. She loved to sing, whether through the phone to wish someone a happy birthday, or along to Sweet Caroline on the radio. Sue was adored by her grandchildren, who knew they would always find candy on their beds when they came to visit.

Most of all, Sue loved spending time with her friends and family. She had a full social calendar - if she wasn't on the phone chatting with a friend, she was meeting with her book club, seeing a show at the Paramount Theatre, or having dinner with her Friday night group. She loved going on vacation every summer with her family; so much so that she would start talking about next year's trip before the current one had even ended.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, James Thill, and parents, Leroy and Dorothy (McCue) Kelly. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Arthur "Jay") Wynn, Peter (Kristine) Thill, and David (Cheryl) Thill; grandchildren, Lauren Thill, Nicholas (Samantha) Thill, Ryan Thill, Arthur James "A.J." Wynn, Colin Thill, and Aaron Wynn; her younger brother Peter (Barbara) Kelly; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless close friends and neighbors who will all miss and love her forever.
