Jennifer Thill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home on Feb. 21, 2026.
Jennifer Thill was born on December 18, 1965, in Santa Barbara, California, to Carol and Steve Hogan. After a short time, she went to live with her relatives, Chris and Virginia Pappas, who played an important role in her upbringing. Jennifer was homeschooled while dedicating herself to athletics, training and competing in figure skating and golf. She found considerable success in both sports until an injury brought her competitive career to an early close.

In September 1983, Jennifer welcomed her first daughter, who was later raised by a family member. In August 1985, she gave birth to her second daughter, Meagan, who would remain a central part of her life.

Jennifer's life journey took her to many places and through many different professions. She spent a period of time living in Tennessee before relocating to Parker, Arizona, where she met and married, and was joyfully reunited with Meagan in 1991. Later, while living in California, she helped develop a rehabilitation program supporting convicted felons as they transitioned back into society after incarceration.

In 1995, Jennifer settled in Kansas, where she became a sign language interpreter and worked for the Goddard School District for several years. After the student she primarily served graduated from high school, Jennifer felt called to pursue a new path. She discovered a deep passion for dog training and became a certified search and rescue dog handler and trainer. She was certified to assist in natural disaster response and played a role in the search for survivors following the devastating Greensburg tornado. Continuing to expand her expertise, she also became certified in cadaver and water search with her beloved dogs, work that reflected both her dedication and compassion.

Jennifer passed away on February 21, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of friends. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit.

Graveside service is Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., at McPherson Cemetery with Pastor Dale Dumperth officiating.

Memorial may be made to Dogs 4 Valor, in care of Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.
