March 25, 1946 - April 17, 2023
George Alan King, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, April 17, 2023 in Powhatan, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Friday April 21, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel and will celebrate his life with a graveside service at Guilford Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22.
George retired from Ashland Chemical as Senior Accounts Manager and spent his time utilizing his green thumb in his garden and perfecting his BBQ smoking skills.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Brenda and his parents John Paul and Elizabeth King. He is survived by two daughters Christy Berry (Tom) of Powhatan, Virginia and Lori King of Liberty one brother Johnny (Jean) and one sister Janice (Gary); one niece Fawn (Tim); one nephew Todd (Leanna), and two granddaughters whom he adored Gracie Berry and Madison Rewoldt. He is also survived by his faithful canine companion Stella Bella Boo Boo.

George was always funny to be around. I knew him when he lived in the Bessemer community on Elwell avenue . We attended the same church together and our families got together for lunch and we got to play together. My thoughts to Harold, Janice and the rest of the family.

I worked with George at Ashland for 10 years. He was always willing to help others when asked. I kept up with George over the years by phone as I moved several times in the past 24 years. I will trully miss George. So sorry to hear of his passing.
