Beech Island, SC- Memorial Services for Mr. George Ivan Knowles, 70, who entered into rest January 19, 2025, will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2025, at 2 o'clock in St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church. Deacon Chris Gregory officiating. Masonic Rites will be rendered by the Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 391. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
George was born August 6, 1954, in Randolph, VT and later made Beech Island, SC his home. He retired after 30 years of service as a Construction Field Engineer from SRNS. George served as a volunteer firefighter and Board Member of the Beech Island Fire Department. He was a member of Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 391 where he served as Past Master and was a Master Mason. George was known as "Grandpa" and enjoyed spending time with his family that he loved very much.
George is preceded in death by his father, Leon Warren Knowles and mother, Gladys Louise Dimock. Surviving members of the family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Donna Flowers Knowles; two sons, Aaron (Jamie) Knowles and Joseph (fiancé Breniah) Knowles; a grandson, William George Knowles; a granddaughter, Jordan Elizabeth Knowles; siblings, Michele (Rob) Breazeale, Anthony (Debra) Knowles, Chuck (Beth) Miller, Eric (Charlotte) Knowles, Melanie (Randy) Smith and Melanie (Matt) Cooper; a niece, Amber (Chaise) Gottschalk; and step-mother, Theo Hightower and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care of Mr. Knowles' nurse, Brittany Poston, RN.
