Milton, WI - George Peter Kosmopoulos, 61, of
Milton, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care in Janesville surrounded by family after battling the monster of pancreatic cancer for 2 years. He fought every day for more time with his family and knew that life is a gift.
He was born on November 10, 1962 in
Beloit, WI, the son of Peter and Florence (Ross) Kosmopoulos. George was a 1980 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He received his Associates Degree from Blackhawk Technical College in Electronic Engineering Technology. George met his future wife, Kathy Armstrong through mutual friends at the Badger Bowl in Madison and quickly fell in love. They were married on October 30, 1982 in
Jefferson, WI.
George was formerly employed by Dryans Ice Cream, Burdick, Cardiac Science, Space Labs Healthcare, Criticare Systems Inc., and retired from NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes in 2023. He was a well-respected, notable Electrical Engineer. George worked on medical devices, such as: AEDS, EKGS, Anesthesia machines, and Radioisotope imaging. He also created a patent for the Light Enhanced Flow Tube.
George was the best husband, dad, and grandpa ever. He was a family man and volunteered for his children's youth sports, 4-H, and boy scouts' activities. George loved music, especially when he was able to listen to it live with his wife and friends. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badgers fan. George enjoyed going on many canoe trips to Boundary Waters and Flambeau Flowage with his good friends and socializing with his poker friends. He enjoyed traveling, whether it was to Thailand, China, or London for work, yearly family trips to Florida, or camping and spending time in the RV with Kathy. George loved trying new foods and fresh food from the garden, but his favorite treat of all was ice cream. He liked helping with numerous DIY projects, fixing computers, and many other things. George enjoyed hosting many 4th of July gatherings and was known for the firework displays he had.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Kosmopoulos; son, Peter Kosmopoulos; daughter, Aleta (Nate Stavn) Kosmopoulos, Marcella (Isaac Wooden) Kosmopoulos, and Anna (Ryan) Meyer; grandson, Clay Kosmas Meyer; sisters, Cindy (John) Podvin and Debbie (Jay) DuFoe; niece, Sarah (Isai) Podvin Menjivar; nephews, Nathan (Elyssa) DuFoe and Alex (Chelsea) DuFoe; special brother and sisters-in-law, Carl (Terri) Armstrong, Karen, and Carol; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
George was predeceased by his parents.
A Visitation of Remembrance for George will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd.,
Beloit, WI. A Celebration of Life will follow at La Casa Grande, 618 4th St.,
Beloit, WI, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Memorials in his name may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center: Pancreatic Cancer Research, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Agrace Hospice, or Gifts Men's Shelter in Janesville.
