George Leonard Lemon

GEORGE LEONARD LEMON, 86, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 30, 2025 following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on February 18, 1939 to the late Charles and Norma Wallace Lemon.
George attended Greenbrier Military School from 1955 to 1958 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem College in 1964. He also attended Oklahoma Auction School and conducted countless auctions over the years through the Great Valley Land & Cattle Company. George introduced Herens cattle from Switzerland to the State of West Virginia in the late 1970s.
Prior to attending John Marshall Law School, George was a teacher at Crichton. He practiced law in Lewisburg for nearly fifty years. He was also a licensed auctioneer and real estate broker in the State of West Virginia. He truly enjoyed helping others.
George was active in the community dedicating hours of service to 4-H and Future Farmers of America and making numerous donations to Davis Stuart. George was a friend to all and a kind, generous soul. He took great pride in the many good deeds he did for the local community.
George is survived by his loving and caring wife, Rebecca Cutlip Lemon, and his sister, Norma Virginia Strand and her husband John Strand of Leavenworth, Kansas. George was a loving father to his two children - George L. Lemon II and his wife, Brandy, of Roanoke, VA, and Virginia A. Lemon of Lewisburg. He was blessed with three stepchildren - Deborah Parker and her husband, G.P., of White Sulphur Springs; Brian E. Hall and his wife, Stephanie, of Covington, VA; and Sara Hall Robards and her husband, Christopher, of Pittsboro, NC. George was a proud grandfather to his eleven grandchildren - Warner, Kyiah, and Waylon; Miles, Aiden, Claire, and Neil; Rebecca; Ava, Anna, and Allie.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church with Rev. Susan Sharp Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery.
