George Lloyd Obituary
COHOES - George H. "Sonny" Lloyd Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
George dedicated 37 years of his career as a machinist with General Electric, where he was actively involved in the Local IUE, 301.
George will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, JoAnn Lloyd; his parents, Rose and George Lloyd Sr.; his sister, Virginia (James) Foley. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Sandra Lloyd and Christine (Matthew) Mazure; his sister, Maryann (Thomas) King; his cherished grandchildren, Dakota Rice, Sara Mroczkowski, Sean Orner and Nicolas Orner; along with many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, N.Y., on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service will follow the calling hours at 12 p.m., at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made in George's memory to the Fresenius Kidney Care Center, 30 Centrury Hill Dr., Latham, N.Y. 12110.
The family would like to thank the Albany Medical Staff with the Coronary Care Unit, and to the Comfort Care Unit, for all of their care and compassion given to George and his family.

I knew George from my school days, but we lost track of each other while in High School. I am happy to hear that he had a wonderful life. I would like to give my condolences to his family. RIP old friend,

George loved meeting his friends at the River's Casino in Schenectady. The picture below shows George with his best friend Vince Matteo and me George Kapsaroff. George was always an upbeat guy who had a passion for life and refused to let the trivial stuff bother him. Heaven will definitely be improved by George's presence. Sincerest condolences to the family and RIP George.
